Prerequisites for the Horse
To be able to participate in a competition, the horse must meet several criteria:
- It must be vaccinated against equine influenza and rabies.
- Since January 13th, 2015, whatever the circuit in which you wish to compete (Club, Pony, Amateur and Pro), your horse must be registered on the site of the French Federation of Equitation (FFE Compet). If you wish to participate in the Young Horses and Young Ponies Contest, it is on the SHF list that he will have to be registered.
- ONC horses (Undiscovered Origins) can only compete in Club events.
- The horses OC (Founded Origins) and PP (Full Papers) can compete in Club, Pony, Amateur and Pro events.
Other criteria may be specified depending on the test.Prerequisites for the Rider
To participate in a competition, the rider must meet several requirements:
1.Possess a club membership license;
2.Possess a competition license (see below);
3.Own the Galop 2 at least, or more depending on the category in which you want to compete.
The Competition License
The competition license allows access to the Club and Pony competitions and is issued free of charge by the FFE. To obtain it is very simple:1.Make sure you have a valid member's license
2.Connect to the FFE website and download the medical certificate template from your jumper page
3. Complete this medical certificate with your attending physician. If you are not using the pre-filled template, ensure that the words "No contra-indication to the practice of competitive equestrian sport" are present and legible.
4.Scan your medical certificate and upload it on the FFE website from your rider page.
5.Patient a little: your medical certificate will be validated by the FFE in a few days (often even a few hours) and your competition license will be automatically issued.
Find a Competition
From the site of the FFE
The first thing to do to participate in a competition is to ... Choose the competition and the category you want to participate! For this, go to the website of the FFE in the section "BO Commitments and Results". Use the different filters to make your search easier:
- Date
- Discipline
- Contest number
- Championship / Ace Tournament
- Organizing Club
- Region and department
The list of available competitions will then be displayed, along with the category list and organizer information. It will also mention the date of the competition and the closing date of the entries (one week before the beginning of the event in general).
From your equestrian center
You can also simply ask your equestrian center (or consult the bulletin board if it exists) the list of competitions in which it wishes to participate in order to make your choice.The Commitment
me and horse |
You and your horse meet the criteria and you have found the perfect match, get closer to your club and ask them to register.
Indeed, it is necessary to have an account engaging to be able to register a couple to a competition; a lambda rider does not have that power. If you do not go to an equestrian center, you can go through an intermediary to engage you:
The commitment is not free and must be paid on the day of registration. The price varies from ten to several hundred euros depending on the level of the event and the organizer.
- Rider associations: there are many rider associations, you can contact the associations closest to you and ask them if they have an account rider;
- Facebook groups: many groups of horse enthusiasts are active on Facebook, contact them!
- Equestrian center nearby
You are ready to participate in your first contest! Good luck !
